Xiaomi asks Indian gov’t to withdraw antitrust report

Xiaomi has formally asked the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to withdraw its investigation report, which found that the Chinese smartphone maker and Flipkart violated competition laws.

Xiaomi claimed the report includes sensitive commercial data, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

In its application, Xiaomi claimed the CCI report contains vital business information, especially sales data categorized by model, which should have been redacted before release.

Should the CCI grant Xiaomi’s request, it may postpone the ongoing investigation that began in 2021. If a recall happens, both parties can resubmit the report for additional review and necessary redactions.

Reports indicate that e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart favored particular sellers and prioritized specific products during collaborations with Xiaomi for exclusive launches.
