Worldcoin has rebranded as World Network, enhancing its global iris scanning project.

Initially launched by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, it aims to distinguish humans from AI chatbots using its World ID “digital passport.”

Under scrutiny for data collection methods, World Network has introduced an updated iris-scanning device in San Francisco, featuring 5G capabilities and claiming improved privacy features.

The company collaborates with delivery service Rappi in Latin America and offers retail locations for orb access.

The project is led by Tools for Humanity in San Francisco and Erlangen, Germany.

Since July 2023, over 6.9 million users have participated in iris scans, according to the company.
