Workday brings back co-founder as CEO

Workday announced that co-founder Aneel Bhusri will return as CEO, effective immediately, as Carl Eschenbach steps down as CEO and board member after leading the company through global expansion.

Bhusri, who previously served as CEO, returns amid a focus on the evolving AI market.

Eschenbach will remain a strategic advisor.

Eschenbach, CEO for three years, highlighted efforts to increase operational discipline and expand globally.

The leadership change coincides with the start of fiscal 2027.

The company expects its fiscal Q4 and full-year 2026 results to align with prior guidance except for its GAAP operating margin.

Workday, an enterprise AI platform provider for HR and finance, serves over 11,000 organizations worldwide.
