Wiz, Microsoft alumni launch Mate with $15.5m seed round

Mate, an Israeli cybersecurity startup, has launched with US$15.5 million in seed funding from Team8 and Insight Partners.

The company, founded in early 2025 by former Wiz and Microsoft executives, has developed a platform that uses AI models and autonomous agents to help Security Operations Centers manage alert overload.

Mate’s system integrates with existing security tools and uses large language models and reasoning agents to investigate alerts, connect evidence, and handle basic incidents automatically.

Incidents that require more attention are escalated to human analysts with additional context.

The founding team includes Asaf Wiener, previously a product leader at Wiz and Microsoft; Oren Saban, former head of product for Microsoft Defender XDR and Security Copilot; and Guy Pergal, who worked at Microsoft’s threat intelligence center and Axonius.
