Wise, a UK-based cross-border payments company, said on July 30 that it had gained direct access to Malaysia’s Real-time Retail Payments Platform (RPP), operated by Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet), and was now live on DuitNow.

Wise said Malaysia was its ninth market globally and fifth in Asia Pacific where it had direct access to a domestic payments system.

The company previously said it had eight markets with similar access, including Australia, Brazil, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, and the UK.

PayNet, the Malaysian payments network operator, said its network connects banks, e-wallets, and financial institutions, and processed 8.44 billion digital payment transactions in 2025.

It also said it had more than 3 million registered DuitNow QR touchpoints nationwide.

Wise customers can pay through DuitNow QR from the Wise app and send Malaysian ringgit (MYR) instantly using a mobile number or National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) number, with real-time recipient name verification.

Banks and financial institutions using Wise Platform can also use the connection for real-time verification of MYR transfers.
