Wise said on October 6 that eligible customers in Singapore can now use QR payments and customizable eSIM plans in its app while traveling abroad.

The company said its QR payment feature works in more than 50 destinations. Through its Alipay+ partnership, eligible users can also pay at millions of participating merchants in China without a Chinese bank card or local phone number.

Wise said its eSIM service covers more than 150 destinations, with a single installation that can be reused across trips.

The rollout comes as Alipay+ has expanded cross-border QR acceptance through the Philippines’ QR Ph system and is reaching millions of merchants through Argentina’s national QR network.

In a Wise-commissioned YouGov survey, 87% of Singapore adults who had traveled internationally in the previous 12 months reported payment hurdles abroad. Another 51% said payment issues caused them to miss local experiences.
