Wingtech warns Nexperia dispute disrupting global chip supply chain

Wingtech Technology chair Ruby Yang has warned that the dispute over Dutch chipmaker Nexperia BV could worsen global chip supply disruptions if the Chinese company’s control is not restored.

Wingtech, a Chinese electronics manufacturer, has owned Nexperia since 2019.

Yang told Bloomberg that the Dutch government breached an investment treaty with China, and that a court decision has split Nexperia operations between the Netherlands and China.

According to Yang, Nexperia’s Dutch entity halted wafer shipments to its Chinese operations, disrupting production for industries including automotive and consumer electronics.

The dispute follows a Dutch court’s suspension of Wingtech’s shareholding rights, and CEO ouster at Nexperia in October.

Talks between Wingtech and Nexperia officials have begun, but no resolution has been reached.
