Wingtech seeks to regain control of Nexperia as dispute grows
Wingtech Technology has approached court-appointed custodians of Nexperia to discuss regaining control of the Dutch chipmaker, as tensions continue over its governance.
Wingtech lost nearly all its shares after the Amsterdam Enterprise Chamber intervened earlier this year and suspended Wingtech’s founder as Nexperia’s CEO.
A Supreme Court appeal is pending, and Wingtech has challenged the court’s authority in the case.
The Dutch government had enacted powers to block or reverse decisions at Nexperia over concerns about potential technology transfers to China.
It suspended the order last month to ease the standoff and resume exports from Nexperia’s facility in China.
Internal disputes between Nexperia’s Dutch headquarters and Chinese operations have halted wafer supplies to its Guangdong facility, raising concerns about chip shortages for automakers.
It is not yet clear when talks between Wingtech and the custodians will take place.

- Timing matters. Chinese wafer fabs such as WingSkySemi, a domestic wafer manufacturer, could supply the Guangdong site within six months 5. Winning acceptance from automotive customers takes longer due to strict qualification expectations. Distributors that publish substitution maps now can capture orders during this window as buyers seek validated options.
- Third-party platforms could focus on Nexperia’s Automotive Ethernet ESD protection devices 7 and discrete power semiconductors 1. They can benchmark capacitance and voltage ratings against rival parts to prove comparable performance for tier-one automotive suppliers.
