White House in talks for Oracle to take over TikTok: sources

The White House is negotiating a deal that would give US software company Oracle and American investors to gain majority control over TikTok, according to two people with direct knowledge of the talks.

ByteDance, the China-based parent company of TikTok, would maintain a minority stake, while Oracle would manage the app’s algorithm, data collection, and software updates.

The deal seeks to ensure ByteDance has no access to US user data, a key condition for congressional approval.

TikTok is currently unavailable for download on app stores, but Oracle has reinstated its services following a temporary pause from a Trump-era executive order.

Further developments are expected as negotiations continue.
