WeRide partners with Geely to bring robotaxi to HK

WeRide, a Guangzhou-based autonomous-driving company, said on June 22 it is jointly developing right-hand-drive robotaxis with Geely Farizon and Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings.

The vehicle are being developed for launch in Hong Kong, with Kwon Chung Bus Holdings operating as Hong Kong public transport operator.

They said the mass-produced robotaxi will be based on WeRide’s existing platform.

WeRide said it has already secured contracts in right-hand-drive markets including Singapore, Japan, and the UK, indicating a broader push into left-hand-traffic markets.

The company added that the GXR has already achieved fully driverless commercial operations in Beijing, Guangzhou, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
