WeRide, an autonomous driving tech company, has received a permit from the Shanghai municipal government to operate Level 4 autonomous Robotaxi services.

The announcement was made during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2025 in Shanghai.

In partnership with Chery Group and Jinjiang Taxi, WeRide will deploy Robotaxis in the Pudong New Area.

This marks the company’s entry into its tenth city for Robotaxi operations worldwide.

During WAIC 2025, the partnership also launched a fully mass-produced Robotaxi shuttle service. It connects major transport hubs and landmarks, including the Shanghai World Expo Center and Shanghai Disney Resort.

WeRide and Chery also presented a new Robotaxi model, the CER, featuring advanced sensors and navigation systems for high-frequency, long-distance autonomous driving.
