WeChat, developed by Tencent Holdings, is now available on Huawei’s HarmonyOS Next amid Huawei’s efforts to promote its homegrown operating system following a three-month beta testing period.

The HarmonyOS version of WeChat includes key features such as messaging, audio and video calls, payments, short videos, live streaming, and the Moments social media feed.

Tencent confirmed that a skilled development team has been working on the HarmonyOS-compatible version of WeChat since March 2024.
