Waymo to launch robotaxi service in Dallas in 2026

Waymo, Alphabet’s autonomous driving unit, plans to launch its robotaxi service in Dallas next year.

The expansion will extend operations across the US, with additional services expected in Miami and Washington, DC, by 2026.

Under a new partnership, rental car company Avis will manage Waymo’s fleet in Dallas.

Its self-driving Jaguar I-PACE EVs, powered by the Waymo Driver system, are already being tested in downtown Dallas.

Waymo allows for “level 4” autonomous operations, enabling passengers to hail rides without a driver using the Waymo app.

The company reports over 250,000 paid weekly trips in cities like Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco. In some areas, its services are also available through the Uber platform.

Alphabet said Waymo has recorded over 100 million autonomous miles on public roads. It is testing its technology in more than 10 cities, including New York and Philadelphia.
