Volkswagen, Xpeng to build 20,000 ultra-fast chargers

Volkswagen Group China announced on Monday a partnership with Xpeng to establish a large ultra-fast charging network in China.

The network aims to include over 20,000 charging terminals across 420 cities and regions.

CAMS, a joint venture initiated by Volkswagen, will develop the network, integrating it with in-car technologies, mobile apps, and charging infrastructure.

CAMS, established in 2019, currently operates more than 13,000 charging terminals in 213 cities across China.

The new partnership will also explore co-branded ultra-fast charging stations to strengthen infrastructure and build on their collaboration in EV development, with their jointly developed product expected by 2026.
