US voice AI firm Deepgram to set up APAC HQ in Singapore
US voice AI infrastructure company Deepgram, which provides speech AI tools, said on August 18 that it plans to set up its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore.
The move follows an investment by EDBI invested in an extension of Deepgram’s US$130 million series C round.
The company also appointed former Salesforce executive Sriram Ved as vice president and general manager for Asia-Pacific.
EDBI, arm of SG Growth Capital, backs high-growth global technology companies expanding in Singapore and across Asia
SG Growth Capital is the investment platform of the Singapore Economic Development Board and Enterprise Singapore.
In January, Deepgram said it raised US$130 million in series C funding at a US$1.3 billion valuation, led by AVP, with participation from existing investors including funds and accounts managed by BlackRock, as well as Alkeon, In-Q-Tel, Madrona, Tiger, Wing, and Y Combinator.
Deepgram said it serves customers in more than 20 Asia-Pacific markets and saw a 96% year-over-year increase in application programming interface requests in the region.
It said the Singapore base will bring regional leadership, customer support, partnerships, and commercial operations closer to customers, while expanding Asian-language support and its low-latency inference footprint.
