Visa stablecoin prefunding moves to commercial use

Visa said on October 15 that Visa Direct’s stablecoin-enabled prefunding has moved from pilot to commercial use.

Inyo Global, a San Francisco-based payments infrastructure provider, is the first processor to enable the service for eligible Visa Direct clients using USDC to fund cross-border payouts.

Visa said the feature lets businesses prefund payouts in near real time instead of relying only on traditional funding windows. Inyo has integrated the capability into its platform.

The rollout follows earlier Visa Direct stablecoin efforts that tested payouts for creators and gig workers and explored using stablecoins to speed up business funding.

Visa did not specify which markets or payment corridors are part of the commercial rollout. It said availability depends on client eligibility and geography.

Mastercard is also building stablecoin payment capabilities.
