Visa links VisaNet data, onchain lending for stablecoin cards
Visa said it is combining VisaNet settlement data with onchain lending infrastructure to help stablecoin-linked card programs and fintechs secure working capital.
The payments company said lenders can use customer-authorized settlement receivables data, which shows money owed after card payments clear, alongside onchain transaction records to assess credit performance and automate parts of settlement financing.
Visa said an early version of the model with Credit Coop, a decentralized lending platform, has supported more than US$2.5 billion in financed settlement volume since 2023, with zero defaults.
The program has also processed more than 3,000 borrow events and 9,000 repayment events onchain.
The company also said more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs operate on its network. Payment volume across those programs is up nearly 200% year over year.
The move follows Visa seeking a new stablecoin settlement partner after BVNK was acquired by Mastercard. Mastercard expanded its settlement capabilities to include stablecoin in June 2026.
