Vine coin soars to $200m amid talk of platform’s revival
Rus Yusupov, co-founder of the short-form video platform Vine, announced the launch of a cryptocurrency called “Vine Coin.”
The announcement was made through a post on X, highlighting the platform’s nostalgic impact prior to its closure in 2017.
Within hours, the token’s market soared past US$200 million, later trading at US$0.16 with a US$164 million market cap.
Vine coin joins the growing list of meme coins gaining traction within the crypto market.
The launch has reignited discussions about potentially reviving Vine.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who conducted a poll in April 2024 with 70% support for a reboot, has reportedly tasked engineers at X to assess its feasibility.
