National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB), a bank in Vietnam, has launched VietQR Global, a cross-border QR payment service that lets foreign visitors pay at participating merchants in Vietnam using banking apps or e-wallets from their home countries.

NCB said the service currently supports visitors from China through Alipay and UnionPay, South Korea through GLN, Hana Financial Group, and Naver Pay, and Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.

It plans to expand the service to Japan, Singapore, India, Malaysia, and other markets.

The service is available at Sun World venues, selected Sun Group hotels and resorts, and Sun PhuQuoc Airways.

Travelers make payments by scanning an NCB VietQR code and approving the amount in their app.

VietQR Global builds on VietQR, a standardized QR payment system developed by NAPAS with the Vietnam Banks Association.

NAPAS said the standard complies with the State Bank of Vietnam’s basic QR rules.

The launch comes amid Vietnam’s push for cross-border VietQR payments, including a late 2025 pilot for Chinese tourists and 2026 inbound QR launches involving Vietcombank, Ant International, and BIDV.
