Vietnamese game startup Panthera Global nets $1.5m seed round
Vietnamese game studio Panthera Global has raised US$1.5 million in a seed funding round led by T-Accelerate Capital, with participation from CyberAgent Capital.
Founded in 2023 and based in Hanoi, the studio develops mid-core mobile RPGs for long-term global engagement, with three titles and more than 7.5 million downloads to date.
Its game Box Head, launched in January 2024, has surpassed 2.5 million downloads and shows strong return on ad spend and retention metrics.
The funding will support development and live operations, and push multiple titles into global soft launch.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Key performance metrics and market context need to be clarified
- 7.5 million downloads and “exceptionally strong ROAS” (return on ad spend) are cited, but revenue, lifetime value (the total revenue a player generates over time), and customer acquisition cost payback periods are not included.
- Panthera’s push into RPGs is being weighed against the global market, where the MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) subgenre had IAP (in-app purchase) revenue fall 19% year-over-year in H1 2025 1.
- A plan to pursue high-LTV (lifetime value) markets like the US and Japan is being pursued, since Vietnam’s domestic average revenue per user is lower at $28.15 2.
- A split of revenue between domestic and international markets should be reviewed to confirm global monetization performance.
Vietnam’s mid-core growth could create a market for specialized service providers
- Tech operators can track Panthera’s data-driven user acquisition (UA) and live-ops (live operations, meaning ongoing in-game events, updates, and monetization management after launch) as part of a broader pattern across Vietnam’s 400 active studios 2.
- Service firms can sell UA management, creative production, localization (adapting a game for language and cultural fit in different countries), or analytics tooling built for Vietnam-based studios exporting games to Western and Japanese markets.
- Investors can look past single titles and focus on the infrastructure around game publishing.
- Capital for B2B (business-to-business) providers can spread risk across the Vietnam game development ecosystem, since game outcomes can be hit-driven.
