Vietjet, Thales sign maintenance, AI cooperation deals
Vietnamese airline Vietjet and Thales, a French aerospace, defense, and cybersecurity company, signed two agreements in Paris on September 10.
The agreements cover aircraft maintenance and broader cooperation in digital aviation, connectivity, AI, and cybersecurity for airline operations.
The details were disclosed in a press release published on September 15.
Under a Repair-By-The-Hour contract, Thales will provide component maintenance services for products on Vietjet’s Airbus A320 and A330 fleets.
A separate memorandum of understanding covers flight operations, data-driven maintenance, and connected aircraft services.
The agreements were exchanged at the Élysée Palace in the presence of Vietnam’s To Lam and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The deal comes as Vietjet said it had 121 aircraft after adding widebody jets.
The carrier said the A330 additions would support long-haul international routes.
It later ordered 20 A330neos for future expansion.
Thales also offers cybersecurity services for airlines, beyond component maintenance.
