Vertex Ventures leads $3m seed in AI science startup Drylab
Drylab AI, a startup building AI agents for scientific research, has raised US$3 million in seed funding led by Singapore-based venture capital firm Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India, with participation from software company PatSnap.
Drylab said it will use the funding to hire sales staff, expand its engineering and biology teams, and seek security and compliance certifications.
The company launched in February 2026 and said it has signed paying customers across the US, Europe, and Asia.
Founded in 2025 by John Phan, Huy Phan, and Nhi Nguyen, Drylab said its software can run bioinformatics workflows using scientific tools and databases on private infrastructure.
Drylab did not specify which compliance standards it is pursuing. For records regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration, 21 CFR Part 11 sets criteria for electronic records and signatures; compliance can require audit trails, user authentication, and system validation.
Vertex said it invests in early-stage technology and tech-enabled companies across Southeast Asia and India.
