VC firm 247VC launches $30m fund for Indian tech startups

247VC, an early-stage venture capital firm, has announced its first India-focused fund with a base corpus of 200 crore rupees (US$24 million) and a green shoe option of 50 crore rupees (US$6 million).

The fund is registered as a Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

The fund aims to target startups in sectors such as consumption, enterprise technology, deep tech, and Industry 5.0, according to managing partner Yagnesh Sanghrajka.

The firm plans to invest in around 30 startups over three years, with an average cheque size of 7 crore rupees (US$840,336), including follow-on investments.

Initial backers include Sachin Tagra from JSW Ventures, Vivek Mathur, formerly of Elevation Capital, and Shailendra Majmundar, an expert in generative AI and machine learning at Johns Hopkins University.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ India’s VC market shows strong rebound amid global funding correction

The launch of 247VC comes during a significant upswing in India’s venture capital ecosystem, which is outperforming global trends.

India’s VC funding rose to $13.7 billion in 2024, representing 1.4 times the amount raised in 2023, with deal volumes increasing by approximately 45% to 1,270 deals 1.

This robust activity continued into 2025, with Indian tech startups securing $2.5 billion in the first quarter alone, showing sequential improvement 2.

The market’s strength is further evidenced by the launch of 81 new funds worth over $8.7 billion in 2024, demonstrating strong institutional confidence in India’s startup ecosystem 3.

247VC’s Rs 200 crore (~$24 million) fund enters the market as small and medium-sized deals under $50 million constitute about 95% of total transactions, reflecting a shift toward more conservative valuations and disciplined capital deployment 1.

2️⃣ Early-stage investment landscape highlights increased selectivity

The early-stage investment landscape in India reflects both opportunity and increasing investor selectivity that 247VC will need to navigate.

In 2024, early-stage startups attracted significant attention with 40 dedicated funds raising a total of $1.94 billion, indicating substantial committed capital for seed and Series A rounds 3.
