US-based Cybereason founders to raise $100m for new startup

7AI, a Boston-based cybersecurity startup founded by Cybereason co-founders Lior Div and Yonatan Striem-Amit, is close to raising around US$100 million from investors including Index Ventures.

The company, which develops AI-driven tools for automating cyber incident response, previously announced a US$36 million seed round in February with backing from Greylock Partners, Spark Capital, and CRV.

7AI operates an R&D center in Israel and is led by Div as CEO and Striem-Amit as CTO.

Their previous company, Cybereason, was valued at about US$3 billion in 2021 before dropping to US$300 million a year later, and was acquired last month by LevelBlue.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

7AI’s reported $100 million round hints at investor confidence

  • 7AI says it handled over 568,000 alerts and saved $11.2 million in SOC productivity since February 2025 1. Public materials tie the savings to customers and cite deployments across dozens of environments 2, though the split between paying users and pilots is not shared.
  • The company runs in large enterprises, with the most expansive agentic deployment on record at DXC 3. Agentic means autonomous AI agents that can take actions toward goals, and DXC Technology is a global IT services provider. Pricing and contract terms remain unknown.
  • Funding could hit about $136 million within months of launch if the round closes, with Index Ventures in the mix per Calcalist. Gartner expects over 40% of agentic AI projects to be canceled by 2027, and it warns about agent washing with only about 130 authentic providers 2.

Security vendors can win early integrations before AI SOC agents mature

  • Vendors in SIEM, EDR, and cloud security can plug into 7AI 4. The platform connects across cloud, endpoint, identity and network domains.
  • AI SOC Agents sit at only 1–5% market penetration 2, so early integrations can set vendors up before the category scales.
  • MSSPs and consulting firms can package services for agentic deployment 4. 7AI says the platform fits customer environments and workflows 4. That work needs implementation skill and can create recurring revenue. Design partners get early access for testing and feedback 5.
