US-based AI startup Console nets $6.2m to automate IT support

Console, a startup specializing in automating IT help desk tasks with AI, raised US$6.2 million in seed funding from Thrive Capital.

This funding aims to streamline common IT functions such as password resets, troubleshooting, and app access requests.

Founded by Andrei Serban, a former employee at Rippling and co-founder of the coding security startup Fuzzbuzz, Console provides an AI assistant that integrates with Slack

Serban says the tool can manage over half of IT issues and is easy to set up without replacing current systems.

Console already serves clients like Scale AI, Flock Safety, and Calendly, with growing demand for AI in IT support.

The company plans to expand into HR, finance, and legal to become the first stop for employee requests.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Help desk evolution shows long pursuit of automation efficiency

Console’s AI assistant is the latest chapter in a decades-long evolution of help desk technology that began with call centers in the 1960s and has consistently aimed to reduce manual workload 1.

The introduction of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems in the 1980s marked the first major attempt to automate basic customer inquiries without human intervention, setting the stage for today’s AI assistants 2.

Help desk costs remain heavily personnel-driven, with approximately 87% of expenses tied to staffing, explaining why automation solutions like Console attract significant investor interest 3.

This progression reveals a consistent industry trend: each generation of technology has aimed to reduce manual effort while maintaining or improving service quality, with AI representing the most advanced iteration yet.

2️⃣ Economic imperative driving enterprise AI adoption in service management

Console’s $6.2 million seed funding reflects broader economic calculations about AI’s potential, with research showing AI could generate up to $4.4 trillion in annual productivity growth from corporate applications 4.

This economic potential explains why 92% of companies plan to increase AI investments despite only 1% considering their current AI deployment mature – creating a substantial market opportunity for solutions like Console 4.
