US-based AI chipmaker plans 2025 IPO after UAE deal approved
Cerebras CEO Andrew Feldman confirmed plans for an IPO in 2025 following US approval of a share sale to UAE-based AI firm Group 42.
Cerebras had filed to go public in September 2025, and The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) cleared the sale to Group 42, its largest customer, to support the move.
The company competes with Nvidia and claims its chips run Alibaba’s open-source AI model more efficiently than OpenAI’s GPT-4.1.
While the tech IPO market has been slow since 2022, recent activity and rising interest from the Middle East signal renewed momentum.
Besides Group 42, Cerebras also serves Microsoft, Meta, and IBM, and may announce another major client by mid-2025.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Middle East becoming a pivotal AI investment hub with strategic chip purchases
The UAE’s emergence as a critical AI investor is transforming the competitive landscape for chip companies like Cerebras, expanding beyond traditional Western funding sources.
The UAE’s AI market is projected to grow explosively from $3.47 billion in 2023-2024 to $46.33 billion by 2030, representing a CAGR of 43.9% 1.
This investment surge is strategic, as the UAE government aims to have AI contribute approximately $96 billion to its GDP by 2030, representing about 14% of its total economic output 2.
Cerebras’ reliance on Group 42 for more than 85% of its first-half 2024 revenue demonstrates how critical these Middle Eastern partnerships have become for AI chip startups competing against established players.
Nvidia’s recent agreement with Saudi company Humain for 18,000 AI chips and Group 42’s reported plan to purchase 100,000 GPUs annually further highlight the region’s growing influence in AI chip investments.
The UAE’s $30 billion partnership between BlackRock, Microsoft, and Abu Dhabi fund MGX illustrates how Middle Eastern nations are using AI investments to diversify their economies beyond oil 3.
2️⃣ Alternative chip architectures challenging Nvidia’s AI dominance with technical differentiation
Cerebras represents a fundamentally different approach to AI computing with its wafer-scale architecture, directly challenging Nvidia’s cluster-based GPU dominance.
