🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Wealth management platforms flourish amid economic uncertainty
Addepar’s remarkable growth, managing $7 trillion in assets up from $5 trillion just a year ago (a 40% increase), demonstrates how financial technology platforms become more valuable during volatile economic periods.
This growth contrasts with the broader tech slowdown, where the Nasdaq has fallen over 20% from its peak in December 2024 according to market analyses.
The platform’s ability to aggregate data across multiple financial institutions addresses a fundamental need articulated by CEO Eric Poirier: “What do I own, and what is all of this worth?”—questions that become critical during market turbulence.
Addepar’s premium pricing model (starting at $50,000 and exceeding $1 million for complex portfolios) and continued client acquisition highlight that wealth managers are willing to invest substantially in technology that provides clarity during uncertain times.
The company’s focus on sophisticated investors managing complex portfolios positions it well within the financial services ecosystem, as these clients typically require more detailed insights during market volatility.
2️⃣ Enterprise software maintains investment appeal despite broader tech headwinds
Addepar’s substantial $230 million funding round comes at a time when equipment and software investment growth is projected to slow to 2.8% from an earlier forecast of 4.7%, according to economic outlooks.
This investment pattern aligns with Deloitte’s forecast that, despite economic challenges, global IT spending is projected to increase by 9.3% in 2025, with mission-critical applications remaining prioritized.
