US voice tech startup Sesame AI eyes $200m funding

Sesame AI Inc., a startup focused on AI voice assistants, is in talks to raise over US$200 million from investors.

The funding round may be co-led by Sequoia Capital and Spark Capital, which would value the company at more than US$1 billion. However, discussions are ongoing, and details may change.

Sesame AI has not responded to requests for statements.

Founded in 2023 by Brendan Iribe (co-founder of Oculus) and Ankit Kumar (co-founder of Ubiquity6), Sesame AI launched in February after raising US$47.5 million in a series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

The company’s voice assistants, Maya and Miles, aim to create more natural and emotionally resonant conversations compared to current AI chatbots.
