US voice tech firm Sesame bags $250m for AI smart glasses beta

Sesame, a conversational AI and smart glasses startup led by Oculus co-founder Brendan Iribe and ex-Ubiquity6 CTO Ankit Kumar, has raised US$250 million in series B funding and begun a closed beta for its iOS app.

The US-based company is building personal AI agents that interact with users through natural-sounding voice technology embedded in lightweight eyewear.

The startup first revealed its technology in February, with demo voices “Maya” and “Miles” attracting over 1 million users who generated more than 5 million minutes of conversation.

The founding team includes several former Oculus and Meta executives.

Sesame’s upcoming smart glasses will feature high-quality audio and AI-powered tools, though no launch date has been announced.

Investors include Sequoia and Spark, while beta testers are required to keep their experiences confidential.
