US telehealth firm names ex-Amazon exec as new operations head
US-based telehealth firm Hims & Hers Health has appointed Nader Kabbani as its new chief operations officer, announced on May 5, 2025.
Kabbani brings nearly 20 years of experience from Amazon, where he contributed to major initiatives such as the launch of Amazon Pharmacy, the acquisition of PillPack, and Amazon’s Covid-19 Vaccination Task Force.
He also worked on Amazon Kindle and Amazon Logistics.
Before joining Hims & Hers, Kabbani held leadership roles at Flexport and Symbotic. The company said his expertise will support its growth and operational scaling.
Hims & Hers, which offers direct-to-consumer treatments for conditions like erectile dysfunction and hair loss, reported a 69% revenue increase last year.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Tech-to-healthcare executive migration reflects telehealth’s operational maturity
Kabbani’s appointment follows a clear pattern of telehealth companies recruiting executives with deep logistics and operations experience from tech giants rather than traditional healthcare backgrounds.
At Amazon, Kabbani led complex operations including Amazon Kindle, Logistics, Amazon Flex, and eventually Amazon Pharmacy after the $753 million PillPack acquisition 1, demonstrating how digital health companies are prioritizing operational excellence over traditional healthcare experience.
This recruitment approach mirrors other telehealth companies that value tech-driven efficiency. Hims & Hers’ competitors like Ro have similarly prioritized operational expertise to manage their direct-to-consumer models 2.
The timing is significant as Hims & Hers reported both a 22% increase in active users and a corresponding rise in fulfillment costs 3, indicating the company has reached a scale where advanced logistics expertise becomes critical to profitability.
This trend suggests telehealth has evolved from its initial disruption phase to an operational scaling phase where margins and efficiency become determinative factors in market leadership.
2️⃣ Pharmaceutical-telehealth partnerships create alternative distribution channels
The recent partnership between Hims & Hers and Novo Nordisk to offer Wegovy at $599 monthly versus its $1,350 list price 4 represents a significant shift in how pharmaceutical companies are approaching distribution.
This collaboration came after a contentious period regarding compounded versions of semaglutide, demonstrating how established pharma companies are adapting to market pressures by embracing direct-to-consumer telehealth channels rather than fighting them 4.
