Three Democratic US senators have urged Apple and Google to remove X and its AI chatbot Grok from their app stores over concerns about the spread of nonconsensual sexual images of women and minors.

In a letter, senators Ron Wyden, Ben Ray Lujan, and Edward Markey said X and Grok violated app store policies against sexual or exploitative content.

X, owned by Elon Musk, faced criticism after its Grok chatbot generated AI images depicting women and children in sexualized poses.

X responded by saying it takes action against illegal content and has limited some image-generation features, but users could still create and share sexualized images using Grok, including through the standalone app.
