US SEC drops investigation into Crypto.com without charges
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has completed its investigation into Crypto.com without taking any enforcement actions, as disclosed by the company on Mar. 27.
The probe began after Crypto.com received a Wells notice in October, signaling potential charges. The company later sued the SEC for overreach but withdrew the lawsuit in December.
The SEC has not publicly commented on its decision.
This case follows a pattern of dropped investigations involving other crypto firms like Kraken, Coinbase, and Ripple.
The SEC has recently shifted its approach to the crypto sector, updating its guidance and forming a new task force led by incoming Chair Paul Atkins.
Crypto.com, which serves over 140 million customers, continues to operate without SEC legal challenges.
The company also announced a non-binding agreement with Trump Media and Technology Group to explore exchange-traded financial products under the Truth.Fi brand.
