US probes Chinese tech firm founded by ex-Huawei execs

The United States Commerce Department and FBI are investigating Baicells Technologies, a telecom hardware company founded by former Huawei executives in China.

The probes focus on national security risks, including vulnerabilities in Baicells’ equipment.

The FBI has been examining the firm’s products and ties to China since 2019, while the Commerce Department has issued subpoenas as part of its inquiry.

The Pentagon has listed Baicells among companies linked to China’s military, a claim the firm denies.

Investigations reflect ongoing concerns over espionage risks tied to Chinese telecom firms.
