US marketing tech startup Clouted raises $7m seed

Los Angeles-based marketing tech startup Clouted said on May 21 it raised US$7 million in seed funding led by Slow Ventures.

The company also launched an AI platform for consumer and entertainment brands that automates campaign planning and distribution.

Other investors in the round include Gold House Ventures, Weekend Fund, LINE-Yahoo’s Z VC, Gondor Capital, Iterative, AppWorks, Peak XV’s Surge, and a16z Speedrun.

Clouted said its software uses AI agents to analyze a brand’s strategy, content, and digital presence.

Clouted run campaigns across channels such as user-generated content, fan pages, influencer seeding, ads, and short video clipping.

The company said it will use the funds to expand the platform, grow its creator network, and enter gaming and streaming.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Lower-cost AI is driving a new round of automation

  • Clouted’s platform fits a broader shift in which AI is becoming easier to get and cheaper to run, much like electricity once did 1.
  • That wider access lets startups automate complex work that people long handled, including multi-channel campaign planning and execution.
  • As AI takes on more of the work in marketing, the next issue is who keeps the profits 1.
  • More of that value may move to brand strategists and creative leaders, since these systems still need a distinct plan and creative direction.

Automated marketing could reshape how creative work gets paid

  • Tools that automate influencer seeding and content distribution, including Clouted’s, could put pressure on parts of the business used by traditional marketing agencies and talent agencies.
  • As AI makes campaign logistics easier to access, some middle layers that rely on manual execution may capture less money 1.
  • More value may gather around the platforms running campaigns and the creative talent whose ideas give those systems something worth producing.
  • That shift could change who gets paid in the creator economy and raise the worth of high-level strategy over hands-on rollout 1.
