US legal AI startup Harvey opens Singapore office in June

Harvey, a legal AI startup, will open an office in Singapore in June.

The firm said the move reflects accelerating growth across Asia Pacific and deeper partnerships with regional legal teams.

Harvey said its Singapore customers include WongPartnership LLP, Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP and Drew & Napier LLC, among others, and that it counts organisations such as Airwallex, PwC (a strategic partner) and the Singapore Judiciary among its regional relationships.

The new office will join Harvey’s Sydney and Bengaluru locations and will house legal engineering, customer success, sales, and G&A roles.

The local presence is intended to help customers scale AI into mission‑critical legal workflows across offices and jurisdictions.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Harvey’s Singapore beachhead is built on a government partnership

  • The new Singapore office follows a collaboration with the Singapore Judiciary (the country’s court system), which goes beyond a standard client deal 1.
  • Under a formal agreement (a memorandum of understanding, or MoU), Harvey supports an AI tool used by tribunal magistrates in Singapore’s Small Claims Tribunals for translations. An expanded MoU adds summaries and help with analysing documents 1.
  • The work also includes an AI-powered platform meant to help the public directly, since lawyers are not permitted in proceedings before the Small Claims Tribunals 1.
  • Embedding into court workflows gives Harvey a public-sector foothold in the region, alongside sales to private law firms.

The new office is part of a race to back up a lofty valuation

  • Moving into Asia supports Harvey’s $8 billion valuation, reached after a $160 million investment led by Andreessen Horowitz (a Silicon Valley venture capital firm) 2.
  • Valuation has outpaced revenue growth. Harvey said on its three-year anniversary in August that it hit $100 million in annual recurring revenue, around two months after the Series E round (a late-stage fundraising round) that priced the company at $5 billion 3.
  • Some investors see global market share as the near-term focus, even if revenue lags 3.
  • A Singapore base also helps Harvey pursue demand outside the US and enter more professional service markets, which supports its valuation case 4.
