US IT firm ServiceNow buys cybersecurity company Armis for $7.8b

ServiceNow has agreed to acquire Armis for US$7.8 billion in cash, aiming to bolster its cybersecurity offerings across IT, operational technology, and medical devices.

Armis, a California-based firm, specializes in cyber exposure management for enterprises and public sector organizations.

The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

ServiceNow said the acquisition will expand its security workflow capabilities and enhance vulnerability response across connected devices.

The company plans to fund the purchase through a mix of cash and debt.

Upon completion, Armis’ team will join ServiceNow.

Armis reported over US$340 million in annual recurring revenue and serves more than a third of Fortune 100 companies.

ServiceNow’s security and risk business surpassed US$1 billion in annual contract value in Q3 2025.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Armis valuation jumped 28% in months, but key profitability metrics remain undisclosed

  • In November 2025, Armis raised $435 million at a $6.1 billion valuation 1. ServiceNow agreed to pay $7.8 billion, a 28% jump that hints at urgency or outperformance.
  • Annual recurring revenue (ARR) exceeds $340 million. The firms did not share net revenue retention, gross margin, or profitability, so the roughly 23x ARR on $340 million is hard to benchmark against peers.
  • Revenue grew more than 50% and Armis serves over 40% of the Fortune 100 1. Opaque unit economics and cash burn make it tough for investors and security operations leaders to judge sustainability or prospects for monetization.

System integrators and managed security service providers (MSSPs) can build certified apps fusing Armis device intelligence with ServiceNow Security Operations

  • ServiceNow Store (a marketplace for certified apps) lists Armis integrations for incident management, vulnerability response, and service mapping 2345. System integrators (SIs) and managed security service providers (MSSPs) can launch solutions for operational technology (OT), Internet of Things (IoT), plus medical device security.
  • MSSPs can bundle Armis agentless passive monitoring 6 with ServiceNow Security Operations (a security workflow suite) to serve healthcare, manufacturing, and energy. Review existing certified apps and join ServiceNow’s partner program to spot open gaps.
  • Independent software vendors can publish ServiceNow-certified apps that add Armis analytics to ServiceNow Vulnerability Response (a module for prioritizing and remediating security flaws) for real-time risk scoring on unmanaged devices. Move early to set a sales play before rivals crowd the platform post-acquisition.
