US healthtech startup OpenEvidence hits $12b valuation

OpenEvidence, a Miami-based startup providing AI tools for physicians, raised a US$250 million funding round led by Thrive Capital and DST.

The deal values the company at US$12 billion and brings total outside funding to over US$700 million since its founding in 2022.

The company says more than 40% of US physicians use its platform, which is trained on scientific journal data rather than open internet sources.

CEO Daniel Nadler said OpenEvidence helps doctors make clinical decisions at the point of care.

The startup reported exceeding US$100 million in annual revenue last year, driven largely by organic growth and referrals.

Nadler emphasized its focus on verified clinical data as a key advantage over health-focused AI chatbots from OpenAI and Anthropic.

OpenEvidence plans to build independently and is not pursuing an acquisition or IPO in the near term.
