US healthcare AI startup Hyro bags $45m
Hyro, a New York-based AI platform for healthcare, has raised US$45 million in a growth round led by Healthier Capital.
The round also saw participation from Norwest, Define Ventures, and strategic investors including Bon Secours Mercy Health and ServiceNow Ventures.
This brings its total funding to US$95 million and follows a previous raise 10 months ago.
Hyro builds AI agents to automate administrative and operational tasks for healthcare providers through chat and voice interfaces.
Its platform is used by more than 45 US health systems, including Sutter Health and Tampa General Hospital, serving over 30 million patients.
The company recently launched Proactive Px to expand communication capabilities and said its agents integrate with electronic health records for tasks like scheduling and prescription management.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Hyro’s metrics lack outside validation
- Hyro cites 8.8x Return on Investment (ROI) 1 and 85%+ automation 2. These numbers come from vendor case studies with no outside check on methods or durability.
- Inova Health reports 4,272 hours of monthly staff capacity gained 1. Baptist Health cites nearly $1 million saved in three months 3. Neither study shares patient satisfaction scores, call quality, or whether savings include AI platform fees and upkeep.
- Missing quantified outcomes create blind spots. Buyers need validated call deflection rates and completed scheduling percentages. They also need net cost savings after implementation plus CSAT or Net Promoter Score (NPS) benchmarks to judge sustained performance and compare agents.
AI assistant buying creates openings for integrators and assurance vendors
- Public-sector healthcare groups are issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for virtual assistants and related services 4. These are firms that stitch together software and infrastructure. Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) consultants and Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) providers can win implementation plus integration work by tracking active procurement channels.
- Buyers want enterprise-grade interoperability and robust safeguards. That creates demand for AI assurance and validation services. Third-party vendors offering bias testing (to check for unfair treatment across patient groups), compliance auditing, and performance benchmarking can become essential partners for health systems evaluating AI platforms.
- Hyro says more than half of hospitals lack formal ROI measurement strategies 5. Consultancies that focus on healthcare AI analytics plus ROI tracking frameworks can fill this gap and guide platform selection and post-deployment evaluation.
