US health official, tech leaders to launch data-sharing plan
Top US health officials will join technology executives to launch a new initiative aimed at improving healthcare data sharing.
The plan, developed with the White House, will be unveiled at an event on Wednesday, July 30.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz are expected to host the event.
The identities of the tech executives have not been disclosed.
The initiative follows a public input effort led by CMS in May to address barriers to patient data exchange.
It will be led by Amy Gleason, acting administrator of the Department of Government Efficiency, and Arda Kara, senior adviser at CMS.
The program focuses on fostering interoperability among health technology systems.
Companies are expected to commit to a voluntary framework to promote data-sharing standards and improve access to health information for patients and providers.
