US fintech firm Fiserv to launch stablecoin by end of 2025
Fiserv plans to launch a stablecoin called FIUSD by the end of 2025.
Integrated into its banking and payments infrastructure, FIUSD will operate on the Solana blockchain and use infrastructure from Paxos and Circle.
It aims to give financial institutions access to digital assets for banking and payment operations.
Fiserv is also considering tokenized deposits as an alternative for banks.
The platform will be available at no additional cost to Fiserv’s 10,000 bank clients and six million merchants worldwide.
FIUSD is designed to streamline payments, enable 24/7 settlement, and improve efficiency in traditional financial services.
Fiserv aims to create an interoperable digital asset ecosystem by integrating FIUSD with its cloud-based platforms.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Traditional financial giants are racing to capture the $240 billion stablecoin market
Fiserv’s entry into stablecoins follows a broader trend of established financial institutions staking their claim in this rapidly growing sector.
The current stablecoin market is valued at approximately $240 billion and projected to reach $400 billion by year-end, representing one of the fastest-growing segments in financial technology 1.
This move comes as major banks including JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America have been discussing creating their own stablecoin to counter growing competition from crypto companies and fintech startups 2.
Fiserv’s timing is strategic, coinciding with the recent U.S. Senate passage of a landmark stablecoin bill that provides regulatory clarity and legitimacy to the sector 3.
By leveraging its existing relationships with approximately 10,000 financial institutions and 6 million merchant locations, Fiserv is positioning itself to scale its stablecoin offering in ways that crypto-native startups cannot match.
The company’s approach of making FIUSD available through existing infrastructure at no additional cost removes a significant barrier to adoption that has historically slowed institutional acceptance of digital assets.
