US database firm Couchbase adds Amazon Bedrock integration
US-based database software company Couchbase said on October 21 it had expanded its AI Data Plane with Amazon Bedrock integration and managed services on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The updates aims to help enterprises run AI agents with fewer data tools.
The update adds semantic caching for Bedrock applications, a technique AWS said can help avoid recomputing similar responses, cutting latency and cost. It also adds managed versions of Agent Memory and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which Couchbase first released as self-managed tools in June.
Couchbase also added vector search to Operational Insights, so teams can combine semantic search with structured queries on operational data. The company said all the announced capabilities are generally available.
The launch comes as database vendors push database consolidation for production AI, while rival platforms already market vector search for AI agent use cases.
