US data firm Digital Realty form joint venture to enter ID
Digital Realty and Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia (BDIA) have formed a 50-50 joint venture, Digital Realty Bersama, to expand into Indonesia.
As part of the deal, BDIA’s Jakarta-based data center platform, Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC), will be integrated into the new entity.
The venture includes two existing data centers in Jakarta: CGK10 in West Jakarta and CGK11 in Central Jakarta. CGK11 has an initial IT load capacity of 5 MW, with potential expansion to 32 MW.
Digital Realty has invested approximately US$100 million for its 50% stake in the data centers and surrounding land. It will also earn property management and development fees from the joint venture.
Key executives from BDDC, including CEO Angelo Syailendra and chairman Setyanto Hantoro, will remain in their roles, while Krishna Worotikan, former Microsoft Indonesia CFO, has been appointed CFO.
The data centers will offer various connectivity options, including access to APJII, Indonesia’s largest internet exchange.
