US cybersecurity startup Daylight secures $33m series A

Daylight, a cybersecurity startup based in the US, has raised US$33 million in a series A round led by Craft Ventures, with Bain Capital Ventures and Maple VC also participating.

The funding brings Daylight’s total raised to US$40 million.

The company plans to use the funds to expand in North America and release new security modules focused on identity threat response and cloud workload protection.

Founded less than a year ago, Daylight offers an AI-driven platform for managed security operations, combining automation and human analysts.

The company claims that its platform, which it calls Managed Agentic Security Services (MASS), is used by enterprises in the US and Europe, including The Motley Fool, Cresta, and McKinsey Investment Office.

Daylight said deployments can be completed in under an hour and reports up to 90% fewer false positives, but these figures have not been independently verified.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Daylight claims on speed and false positives lack proof

  • Daylight reports 90% fewer false positives and sub-hour deployment, yet there is no third-party validation, customer case studies with specific metrics, or benchmarks to back it 12.
  • Many MDR (Managed Detection and Response) vendors in the sources reach hundreds of millions in ARR yet low Net Promoter Scores and frequent acquisitions signal customer frustration 3.
  • Leading analysts expect the traditional “triage and escalate” MDR model to fade within 2 to 3 years, so timing may favor disruptors like Daylight 3.
  • No disclosed ARR, paying customer counts, or retention data after 10 months makes it hard to judge product-market fit in a crowded MDR market projected to exceed 15 billion by 2030 32.

MSPs and security data firms see early openings in identity and cloud

  • Daylight is expanding in North America, has launched identity threat response plus cloud workload protection, so MSPs and VARs can explore sell-together deals before rivals lock in 1.
  • Cloud and identity security integrators can explore connections, since Daylight says it builds new integrations within days while working with any infrastructure 42.
  • Security data and threat intelligence vendors can pitch their feeds for a platform that learns from systems, past cases, plus Slack conversations 4.
  • ChatOps collaboration inside the product gives workflow automation software makers clean hooks for security operations teams 4.
