US crypto wallet Exodus joins PayPal in launching USD stablecoin
Exodus, a public cryptocurrency wallet provider, will launch a USD-backed stablecoin in partnership with fintech firm MoonPay in January 2026.
MoonPay will issue and manage the stablecoin, with infrastructure support from M0.
The new token will support Exodus Pay, a feature allowing users to send and spend digital dollars directly in the Exodus wallet app without using centralized exchanges.
Exodus now joins public companies like Circle and PayPal that have introduced their own stablecoin products.
The stablecoin will be available through MoonPay’s global network, including its buy, sell, and swap services.
The rollout will depend on regulatory approvals in different markets.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Exodus relies on MoonPay licenses and M0 tech, but many details remain unclear
- MoonPay runs an enterprise stablecoin service that uses its U.S. licenses plus UK, EU, Canada, and Australia oversight with M0’s platform 1. MoonPay handles payments and on/off ramps. M0 supplies tools to issue and manage dollar‑pegged tokens.
- Public materials omit the issuer of record. They skip the reserve mix such as cash or Treasury bills and the custodians. Cadence of third‑party audits or attestations is missing. These gaps shape redemption risk, which is the ability to redeem 1:1 for dollars on demand, and affect institutional uptake.
Wallet and fintech operators can launch branded stablecoins with new infrastructure partners
- Wallet firms and fintechs can use MoonPay’s enterprise service as a white‑label path, where a vendor builds then runs the product under the client’s brand 2. Bastion offers Stablecoin‑as‑a‑Service with compliant wallets and fiat on/off ramps (bridges between bank accounts and crypto) 3. Agora Finance lets businesses launch customized stablecoins in one day with built‑in liquidity and compliance 4.
- Issuance platforms include M0 and Bridge 5 (a stablecoin infrastructure and payments platform). Custody and compliance vendors include Zero Hash 6 (a crypto infrastructure and settlement provider), while distribution networks include Triple‑A in 140+ countries 7 (a crypto payments processor). Bridge offers orchestration APIs (developer interfaces to coordinate multiple services), custom coin issuance, and payment rails through one integration 5. MoonPay bought Iron, a payments infrastructure firm 2.
