US crypto firms rush for IPOs as market hits $4.2t

US cryptocurrency companies are increasingly seeking public listings as global cryptocurrency values reach a record US$4.2 trillion.

Bullish, a US-based crypto-exchange backed by Peter Thiel, raised over US$1.1 billion in its public debut on August 13, 2025.

Circle, a stablecoin issuer, went public in June with shares more than doubling at the open and is now valued around US$35 billion.

Analysts say rising mainstream adoption and new regulatory clarity, like the recent Genius Act for stablecoins, are fueling demand for cryptocurrency stocks.

Other cryptocurrency firms such as BitGo, Grayscale, and Gemini have also filed for US listings, while Kraken is seen as a possible candidate.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Regulatory clarity transforms crypto valuations and investor confidence

The GENIUS Act’s passage has created a concrete framework that’s directly translating into valuation gains for crypto companies.

Circle’s stock performance illustrates this regulatory premium—shares jumped from their $31 IPO price to $153.16, increasing the company’s market value from $18 billion to $35 billion in just months1.

The law requires stablecoin issuers to maintain 1:1 reserves and comply with strict regulatory standards, giving institutional investors the clarity they’ve demanded for years.

This regulatory certainty explains why companies like BitGo, Grayscale, and Gemini have filed confidential IPO documents immediately following Circle’s successful debut.

The trend reflects how financial services companies often see valuation benefits when operating under clear regulatory frameworks, as compliance costs are offset by reduced regulatory risk and broader investor access.

2️⃣ Crypto IPO surge coincides with broader market cycle peak

The timing of crypto’s IPO wave aligns with several market indicators suggesting we’re in a late-cycle bull market phase.

US IPO activity has surged 83% this year with 216 offerings compared to 118 in the same period last year, raising $39.83 billion total—the highest level since 2021.
