US semiconductor equipment maker Lam Research said on August 12 it plans to add about 200 roles in Singapore this year.

Nearly 90% of the jobs in specialized engineering and technical areas tied to AI-driven chip demand.

The roles will cover high-bandwidth memory, advanced chip packaging, silicon photonics, and tool and service intelligence technologies, the company said.

The announcement follows Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s recent National Day Message.

He said Singapore would benefit from AI growth, especially in the semiconductor sector, and should keep investing in people and skills so workers could adapt to technological change.
