US-based AI cloud firm nets $75m, hits $825m valuation

San Francisco-based AI startup Baseten has raised US$75 million in its latest funding round, bringing its valuation to US$825 million.

The round was led by IVP and Spark Capital, with participation from other investors.

Founded in 2019, Baseten focuses on deploying AI models using cloud infrastructure from Amazon and Google, giving clients better access to GPUs for optimized AI execution.

The company reported a sixfold revenue increase over the past fiscal year, though specific figures were not disclosed.

It now serves over 100 enterprises and smaller companies, including Descript, Patreon, and Writer.

Baseten also supports AI tools like DeepSeek’s R1 reasoning model, launched in January for cost-effective training.

With around 60 employees, Baseten competes with companies like Together AI and in-house AI teams at major tech firms.
