US AI coding startup Replit hits $3b valuation with $250m funding
Replit has raised US$250 million in new funding, bringing its valuation to US$3 billion.
The round was led by Prysm Capital and included Amex Ventures, Google’s AI Futures Fund, Coatue, a16z, YC, Craft, and Paul Graham.
The San Francisco–based company offers an AI-powered software creation platform used by over 40 million people globally.
It also announced Agent 3, a new AI agent that can automate complex or repetitive tasks for a wide range of users.
Replit said its annualized revenue rose from US$2.8 million to US$150 million in less than a year. Its products are now available on the Google Cloud Marketplace.
The company plans to use the funds to expand operations, accelerate product development, and support global expansion.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Revenue-driven valuations create exponential investor returns in AI coding market
- Replit’s valuation surge from $800 million to $3 billion demonstrates how revenue acceleration directly impacts investor confidence in AI-powered development tools12.
- The company’s 50x revenue growth from $2.8 million to $150 million annualized in under a year created a nearly 4x valuation multiple, showing investors are willing to pay premium prices for proven market traction1.
- This valuation pattern reflects broader market dynamics where AI coding platforms command higher multiples than traditional software tools due to their potential to capture larger market segments.
- The funding round attracted strategic investors including Google’s AI Futures Fund and Amex Ventures, indicating that established tech companies see Replit’s autonomous coding approach as complementary to their existing offerings1.
Autonomous AI agents show exponential capability improvements through iterative development
- Replit’s agent progression reveals a clear scaling pattern: Agent 1 worked for 2 minutes, Agent 2 for 20 minutes, and Agent 3 for 200 minutes, each version delivering 10x longer autonomous operation1.
- This improvement from first to third generation demonstrates how incremental advances in AI agent architecture can compound into dramatic capability increases over relatively short development cycles.
- The ability to work autonomously for over 3 hours represents a breakthrough threshold where AI agents can handle complete development workflows without human intervention, moving beyond simple code completion to full project execution1.
- Agent 3’s capability to test and fix its own code addresses a limitation that has prevented AI coding tools from operating independently, suggesting that autonomous software development may be transitioning from experimental to commercially viable1.
