Jim Jordan, chairman of the United States House Judiciary Committee, has asked EU antitrust chief Teresa Ribera to clarify the European Union’s rules targeting Big Tech.

In a letter signed by Scott Fitzgerald, chair of the subcommittee on regulatory reform and antitrust, lawmakers expressed concerns that these regulations may disproportionately impact US firms.

The letter, sent on Feb.23, follows a memorandum from US President Donald Trump advocating increased scrutiny of the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) and Digital Services Act (DSA).

These laws regulate major internet platforms in the EU, with the DMA targeting firms like Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft.

The regulations aim to promote competition and consumer choice. Violations could incur fines up to 10% of a company’s global annual revenue.
