Unitree Robotics develops humanoid coding system

Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics, a Chinese robotics company that sells humanoid robots, said on October 22 that it was developing Unitree Rehearsal, a system designed to let humanoid robots write code and improve their own performance with less manual programming.

Founder Wang Xingxing said at the company’s conference on physical AI in Hangzhou that the system would search research papers, write code, test it in simulations, and then run trials on physical robots.

Humans could still assess the robots’ performance and provide feedback as Unitree worked toward a more automated development process.

Unitree already markets humanoid robots through its online shop, including the G1 model, linking the project to the company’s hardware business.

China has proposed setting at least 100 standards for humanoid robots and is testing humanoid robots in real work environments.
